Since he was a young boy Bruce always had a deep love of the ocean, or water in general honestly. So much of his time was spent there that many of his friends and family jokingly called him more fish than human. One day as a teenager he was swam out to a nearby reef, diving down to explore and see the vibrant fish that swam below. He could hold his breath longer than most thought possible and it allowed him to dive deeply and see much of the busy reef. When finally he had to surface for air he floated on the calm ocean surface, catching his breath and enjoying the water holding his body afloat, when out of nowhere something grabbed him. It was over almost as soon as it started, teeth grabbing hold of his leg and dragging him down before letting go again leaving behind large wounds and a single tooth. He barely made it back to shore, bleeding and exhausted on the sand when someone found him. He was lucky to not lose his leg they said, the shark not having a taste for scrawny humans they joked, but it earned him a nickname that would follow him for the rest of his life. "Shark Bait". It didn't deter his love of the water however, seeing it as a sign of destiny that the shark had not killed him that day, the large tooth it had left in his leg worn around his neck day and night. Over the years he became the most skilled fisherman on the island, his prowess and abilities on the water spreading quickly to neighboring villages along with his ability to cook and serve the fish and other creatures he brought back from the sea. He grew into a strapping man, muscle running like sinew over his large body and scars both from the original bite and other incidents that occurred later littering his tanned body like trophies. He lived a simple life happily among those he had known all his life until one day the invitation came to join Loki and his growing followers. He was no solider he assured them, but they were more interested in his abilities to hunt and feed their growing numbers. With the promise of seeing places other than his home village blooming in his mind he accepted the offer and so came to be on Jormungander when Fenrir's curse spread across its shores. As he did with most things Bruce took his change in stride, seeing it as just another stroke of luck within his brutish body. Still able to fish and swim in his favored waters, and even finding there were still possibilities for preparing what he caught, life largely remained unchanged for him. He fashioned a harness from black leather and uses it to carry his chef knives, tying the jagged shark tooth to its front so it hung on his chest still proudly displayed. Finally, he fixed a large shark fin on top, he had taken down the large fish in a brief struggle after his change, his large jaws and thick legs allowing him to overwhelm the creature he had happened upon. Just another fish to add to his repertoire. Many who meet him find him intimidating, large and scarred carrying knives strapped to his large sides, however Bruce is all around an amiable man. He still enjoys the water and most days can be found either on the shore or out in the water. He is learning how to sail once more on ships equipped to carry the dire wolves and looking to learn their techniques for fishing and cooking their prey with more than teeth and claws. Many describe him as being almost too relaxed, with nary a care to be found, however Bruce is just happy to be alive.
