Gullinbursti
As the sun slowly rises over Fenrir’s Incisor, casting a gentle glow that edges the rugged peaks, the sleepy village of Skalaness begins to rouse from its slumber. The first hints of dawn stretch lazily across the vast expanse of well-tilled fields, where the earth, freshly imbued with seeds, exudes a rich, pungent aroma of fertiliser mingling with the dewy morning air. All around, life is awakening, from the smallest insect to the loftiest bird, each contributing to the burgeoning day. In the thicket by the stream, birds are particularly vociferous, their calls weaving a melodious backdrop to the day’s onset. They sing to their mates, a symphony of chirps and trills that fills the air with a vibrancy felt throughout the village. The locals, with their paws skilled from generations of toiling the soil, step out into the early morning, eyes squinting against the rising light, their hearts filled with a silent prayer for the season’s bounty.
Walking through the village centre, the daily hum of Skalaness envelops you. Here, amidst quaint wooden structures and cobblestone paths, the villagers gather, exchanging nods and smiles, their voices a gentle murmur breaking the morning’s tranquillity. It is here that you catch the whispers of something unusual—news that has every tongue wagging with a mixture of excitement and anxiety. It is said that
Gullinbursti, the mythical boar whose presence in the fields is a harbinger of abundant harvests, has been spotted nearby. Each farmer’s face is alight with hope, discussing fervently how this golden-bristled creature could bless their fields with unparalleled fertility. However, as the village stirs with this promising news, a sudden commotion at the outskirts catches your attention. Curiosity piqued, you make your way towards the disturbance, the conversations of the villagers fading behind you as you approach the source of the uproar.
As you near the edge of Skalaness, the sight that greets you is as unexpected as it is chaotic. Brynjar, a robust Felvarg known for his expansive fields and equally large temper, is in the midst of a frantic chase. His target is none other than Gullinbursti himself, who, despite his magical repute, darts through the crops with the unexpected agility of a creature in distress. Brynjar’s efforts are clumsy and desperate, causing more harm to his crops than the elusive boar. Upon spotting you, Brynjar comes to a halt, his chest heaving, and his brow furrowed with frustration.
“First the goat and now the pig,” he spat bitterly, his gaze sharp as flint. His words hang between you, heavy with implication. It's clear that his troubles run deeper than an unruly mythical boar trampling his land. Brynjar quickly explains the dire situation. Though Gullinbursti’s arrival should have been a blessing, an unforeseen calamity has struck. An infection mushroom, likely stirred from the soil by the boar’s rooting, has begun to spread through his fields. This fungus, known for its rapid growth and destructive nature, threatens not only his crops but also the entire harvest of Ulfrheim. Brynjar’s eyes are filled with a grim mixture of anger and fear as he confides that if Gullinbursti is not controlled, the mushroom will spread unchecked, spelling doom for the entire region.
The weight of his words settles on you with a sobering clarity. The situation demands immediate action, not just for Brynjar’s sake but for all of Skalaness and the neighbouring lands. With the potential of a year of famine looming over the village, the mythical blessing of Gullinbursti has morphed into a curse that you find yourself compelled to confront. As Brynjar looks to you, his expression a mix of plea and command, you realise that the task ahead will require tact, courage, and perhaps a touch of the very magic that brought Gullinbursti to these fields. With the balance of nature disrupted, the future of Ulfrheim hangs precariously—a challenge you must rise to meet, armed with wisdom and a resolve as steadfast as the mountains themselves.
Objective:
Depict or write your Felvarg trying to stop Gullinbursti from further spreading the diseased mushrooms. Do they lure him away, or do they call on the aid of a great healer or witch to stop the infection in its tracts? Though usually peaceful, Gullinbursti is wild and unpredictable while the infection runs through his veins.
Reward:
1x Badge,
1x Long Lost Treasure,
3x Mushrooms,
3x Flora,
1x Basket of Vegetables,
