History

"Mercy? Mercy?

My mercy has long since drowned.

It died to bring me home.

And as long as you're around, My family's fate is left unknown."

Relationships

[Friend]

He doesn't understand how this cat remains so cheerful despite everything going on around them that screams danger. He is a little naive but he is a light in the dark never failing to get a purr or two out of Ody.

While everyone befriends him trying to get something out of it, he knows Polites is the truest of them all. Never once leaving his side, even if it endangers his life.

[Second In Command and Friend]

Just like Polites, Eurylochus has been a part of Odysseus's path as long as he can remember. The yggdravixen is loyal, honorable, and brave. He will jump into a battle with no direction needed and will fight with all of his might for the good of the crew. While he may be a soldier, he is also a friend standing for everyone behind him.

Their respect and friendly relationship mutual since their first hunt.

[Son]

Knowing Telemachus and Penelope were still waiting for him to get home got Odysseus through the toughest of paths. From the war, into the wrath of gods and forward through the monsters that hide in the shadows of the islands. The thought of meeting his son once again gave him purpose he nearly lost with every man of his crew that died.

Once he got home he was enraged to see his own subjects were plotting to harm his family. Even with Odysseus covered in blood, Telemachus ran as fast as he could through the aftermath to embrace his father.

Interactions

["I see portrayals of betrayal and a brother's final stand..."]

He predicted every betrayal and death on Odysseus's paws. He constantly thinks of this encounter, it haunts him and has forced Odysseus to be alert and cautious. Keeping his friends closer than ever doing what he can to make sure anything else that was spoken of never comes to fruition and his friends remain unharmed.

["Die in the blood where you bathe!"]

The first time he ever came close to death was going through her lair. She killed his crew, if it wasn't for the brave felvarg who put himself between Scylla and Polites he'd have lost his friend too. He wishes he could find better ways to honor their sacrifice properly.

Odysseus never wants to go near that cavern again, that had only been a one time thing. A choice made under desperation— for that foolish decision he lost six soldiers. Six friends... he will carry every death on his shoulders until his thread is cut.

["There are other roads to the soul..."]

They stumbled upon her entirely by mistake, having no clue what Circe was capable of. She put the crew to the test, a mind game that they ultimately failed and in turn... got turned into pigs? Odysseus had to go back for them, much to Eurylochus' refusal. What kind of Captain would he be if he left them?

She tried to test him next, he understood only after he succeeded.

He has no negative opinions about her. She was a lot to handle, so much power in a tiny body... and defiant. Odysseus did his besy to make sure she didn't hurt herself or Polites during their excursion but its hard to tell Elfie what to do she will do the complete opposite. Although her cheekiness reminds him a lot of his son. Outside of her chaotic ability to create a mushroom cloud of seawater, he likes her company.

Odysseus asked a loaded question once before and didn't like the answer he received... While that was long behind him it seemed like no matter what he does or how hard he tries he can't escape the stains on his paws, old and new. "Every path I walk death follows close behind, even now. I still feel the guilt from all I've done, I try to make amends but it only causes more pain. Will there ever be an end to it? Will we have peace?" He was truly terrified of what the cards would have to say about his fate.

Nightfall watches Odysseus enter with the unmistakable weight of a Felvarg expecting judgment. Her eyes fall briefly to his paws. “You speak as though death follows you, yet I wonder how often you are the one dragging its chains behind you.” She spreads the cards. “Come then, Slayer. Let us ask whether peace still knows your name.”

She draws.

The first card Nightfall draws is 'The Bloodcall (Upright)'

“You have mistaken reckoning for punishment. They are not the same.”

> The Bloodcall speaks of awakening, reckoning, and rebirth. Odysseus cannot undo what stains his paws, but neither is he condemned to remain the Felvarg who spilled that blood. Peace begins when guilt becomes wisdom rather than a sentence. What happened may always remain part of his history, but it does not have to dictate every choice that follows. Reckoning can become the beginning of a different life rather than an endless punishment for the one he lived before.

The next 3 cards Nightfall draws are:

- Three of Fangs (Reversed)

“The wound closes, if you stop tearing it open to prove you remember.”

> Healing is possible, but Odysseus must allow it. Honoring those lost does not require suffering forever in their place. The Three of Fangs reversed suggests that he has already spent considerable time reopening wounds in the belief that pain is proof of remorse. It is not. Remembering what happened can guide him without requiring him to remain trapped inside the hurt forever.

- Ten of Roots (Reversed)

"Not every burden upon your pelt still belongs there.”

> Odysseus has carried responsibility for every death and consequence along his path. Some burdens are his to answer for; others must finally be laid down. The Ten of Roots reversed asks him to examine what he continues carrying out of love, guilt, or habit. Taking responsibility for his actions does not mean accepting responsibility for every sorrow that happened around him.

- Ten of Tides (Upright)

“There. The peace you were too frightened to hope for.”

> Family, love, and belonging remain ahead of him. Peace is not promised without hardship, but the cards show something worth protecting beyond survival. A life shared with those who stayed. The Ten of Tides suggests that fulfillment may come not from erasing the past, but from allowing himself to participate fully in the happiness still available to him. He is not required to suffer simply because others once suffered.

Nightfall's gaze lingers upon the Ten of Tides before returning to Odysseus. “You asked whether death will ever stop following you. Perhaps not. You have known too much of it to ever walk entirely without its shadow.” Her claw settles over the Bloodcall. “But a shadow cannot exist without light, Odysseus. You have spent long enough counting those you could not save. Look beside you. Your family lives. Your friends remain. You remain.” Her expression sharpens, if only slightly. “Peace will not erase what you have done. It will ask whether you are brave enough to live after the storm clears.”

Soulmate Description

You are the only thing keeping me from letting the world burn.

How they met is unknown to most, but they were close since the hunt of the magic boar; where Odysseus leapt into action to keep a frozen Polites from getting wounded. He found they were fated by yggdrasil through a surreal dream at Venus' den on the evening of Polites' weaving, when he thought he'd lose another he loved and begged at her paws to save him.
