Talebearing Treachery

You’re standing on the edge of Ulfrheim, and given the circumstances it feels like the edge of the earth. Hongerige is crashing violently behind you, so to turn and flee into its cold blue icy grip would be a mistake. Esme is laid beside you on the shoreline unconscious and weak, you manage to free yourself from those pursuing you within The Great Maw by leaping down into Hongerige but after breaking free of one problem you stumble upon another. You peer into the shadows as dark and ominous figures approach, you look to Esme with concern but she is nearly lifeless. The chill of night paired with the salty water your coat retained from Hongerige has a chill crawling down your spine, its icy bite is painful.

“Well that’s just unfortunate.” A voice calls out to you as it snakes close enough for the moonlight to illuminate its face, It’s Oracle and he brought company. You twitch your lip uncomfortably as you prepare yourself for what right now feels like the inevitable. “You’ve got spirit, kid.” Oracle declares as he chuckles in a condescending tone, he is pacing the shoreline now as he shakes his head with a ‘tsk, tsk, tsk.’ You weigh out your options, which are limited. You can flee into the woods but that would likely mean death for Esme, you could stand your ground and fight Oracle but what use would that do you’re outnumbered and wanted at this point. “Or you could indulge what it is I want from you, and you and Esme here can be on your way.”

You’re taken aback as you retreat backwards, Hongerige crashing into your back paws reminding you of the trap you’ve somehow managed to spring. You glance back but only for a moment before narrowing your gaze upon Oracle curiously. He can hear your thoughts? Is that possible? Or could he simply see you considering your options within your gaze as you canvassed your surroundings. “You have something I want, no.. something I need.” Oracle stops pacing now to face you, his minions close in each lowering their heads menacingly which causes your fur to stand on edge. “Join me, Fenrir’s reign is coming to an end, choose the winning side.” Oracle approaches you now with purpose as you snarl and bare your teeth demanding space. Oracle freezes and quickly halts his minions who were ready to engage with such an action from you. You do your best to make a decision in the heat of the moment as the discomfort swells. Oracle’s blues and oranges slice through the night as they burn into you.

This would truly mean betraying Fenrir, not for the right reasons but with ill intention. It will change your path forever. With limited options it’s only rational of you to have considered the possibilities of the decision you had to make. Oracle smirked as his gaze clouded over in satisfaction, “With those books we can do great things together.” As you take a step forward you’re interrupted by shouts further north, It’s Freyja and she is quickly approaching with half a dozen other alphas at her command, as they crash through the underbrush and are face to face with you, Oracle and his minions a standoff begins.

Freyja’s expression when she finds you with Oracle is one of disappointment and confusion. A soft spoken voice cuts through the low grumbles being exchanged and it captures your attention, it’s Esme and she's alive. The words were muffled as you tilt your head in confusion and ask her to repeat herself. Esme scrambles carefully picking up her own weight on her two front paws as she shakes weakly and repeats herself, “De—clare… S–ancutary.” Her words are so weak and withdrawn but she repeats them as many times as it takes for you to hear her.

Objective:

Depict or write your Felvarg standing behind Oracle, having made your choice to forfeit the books to him, and ultimately betraying Fenrir and every alpha on Ulfrheim. Be mindful if you do this Fenrir will remember your betrayal.

Depict or write your Felvarg stood within the safety of Norn’s Weave in Helvalla, a stone laced village under the protection of Aurora and Nimh. This will give you the time you need to explain your situation to Aurora and devise a plan to redeem yourself with Fenrir and Freyja.

Feast of the First Flame

For many years Felvargs have gathered to honor a cherished tradition known as the Feast of the First Flame. It began in the quiet after the first war Ulfrheim had ever seen, when Freyja herself sought to breathe life back into Ulfrheim after grief had struck the Felvargs who once resided peacefully here. In those early days, she called upon Ylva, Bjorn, and Ulfr to seek out their favorite foods and return to the bittersweet Shrine of Ragnarok, where she prepared a great feast beneath the open sky, stars and clouds roaring overhead.

There, beneath the canopy of the trees and among crumbling shrines heavy with sorrow, a great fire is lit and a feast is prepared. Its heart burns over a wide, flat stone, blackened by the offerings of generations past. Each contribution, whether simple or elaborate, is placed upon this slate. As it cooks, the juices slide free and feed the flame below, sinking into Ulfrheim itself. It is said this act blesses Ulfrheim with prosperity for the year that is soon to follow. A Felvarg may bring whatever speaks to them most. A freshly caught fish, rare herbs, richly flavored meat, or even a meal tied to personal memory. Each offering holds meaning, and each one strengthens the ritual that takes place in the place it all ended.

Felvargs arrive from all across the realm, from Helvalla, to the winding reaches of Jormungandr, and the farthest corners of Ulfrheim. They come not as rivals regardless of their past, but as Felvargs. Ylva, the daughter of the first bloodline, stands watch over the event, offering a blessing to every participant who steps forward with their gift, thanking them for their contribution and bestowing upon them an act of kindness in return. The day leading into the feast is the quietest day Ulfrheim knows. Silence falls not only in respect for those lost to the war, but to grant peace and rest before a long night spent together beneath the stars while they feast. Laughter and love fills the once tainted Shrine of Ragnarok, offering peace to all who enter.

Depict or Write your Felvarg partaking in the Feast of the First Flame beneath the moonlist starry sky above The Shrine of Ragnarok.

The Trio

Haldor's Pass, once a bustling thoroughfare for travelers and traders alike, has fallen silent. A heavy, unnatural stillness hangs in the air, broken only by the occasional rustle of leaves. The usual sounds of bustling caravans, chattering Felvargs, and the chirping of birds have all but vanished. It wasn't always like this. The Pass was once the safest and quickest route through the treacherous mountains of Ulfrheim, a lifeline connecting distant settlements. But now, an ominous darkness has taken hold, casting long shadows over the path.

The reason for this change is whispered in fearful tones: The Trio.

The Trio are no ordinary foxes. They were once a mischievous but relatively harmless band, known for their clever tricks and knack for pilfering food from unsuspecting travelers. The group were legends in their own right, notorious for their pranks that, while annoying, never caused real harm. However, all of that changed when they stumbled upon a relic belonging to Ursa. The relic was an ancient, weathered stone, carved with mysterious runes and radiating a cold, dark energy. It had been sealed away in a hidden cave deep within the mountains, protected by powerful wards to prevent it from falling into the wrong paws. But the Trio, driven by their insatiable curiosity and a bit of greed, managed to bypass the wards and steal the relic. What they didn't realize was that the relic was cursed.

As soon as they touched the stone, the curse took hold, warping their minds and bodies. The red fox's eyes now glow with a fiery, unnatural light, filled with rage and malice. The silver fox's once sleek, beautiful coat is now mottled with patches of black and grey, as if the very essence of life is being drained from it. The melanistic fox, already dark as night, has become a living shadow, its form barely distinguishable from the darkness around it. Driven mad by the curse, the Trio have become feral, viciously attacking anyfel who dares to enter Haldor's Pass. Their attacks are swift, brutal, and merciless, leaving behind nothing but fear and bloodshed. The once safe passage has become a death trap, with the few who survive their encounters with the Trio returning with tales of glowing eyes, shadows that move on their own, and the bone-chilling sounds of growls echoing through the mountains.

The alphas of the nearby villages have tried to send hunters and warriors to reclaim the Pass, but none have succeeded. The Trio are too clever, too fast, and too powerful, the curse giving them unnatural strength and agility. Even the bravest Felvargs hesitate to venture near Haldor's Pass, knowing that they might not return.

Ursa is furious. The relic was never meant to be disturbed, and the curse was a punishment for those who sought to wield its power for themselves. But the Trio's actions have brought chaos and death to the mountains, and Ursa's wrath is growing. The only way to end the curse is to return the relic to its rightful place, deep within the cave where it was found. But to do so, someone must brave Haldor's Pass, confront the cursed foxes, and survive the encounter. The call has gone out to the bravest and most cunning Felvargs of Ulfrheim. Who will answer? Will they be able to defeat the cursed Trio and restore peace to the mountains? Or will they fall like so many others before them, leaving Haldor's Pass to remain a place of death and despair? The fate of the Pass, and perhaps all of Ulfrheim, hangs in the balance.

Objective:

Depict or Write your Felvarg fighting through the Trio to obtain and return the cursed relic. The relic cannot be touched, otherwise the curse will consume you as well.
